Kiehl’s Turmeric & Cranberry Seed Energizing Radiance Mask Review

Hi again! I’m excited to share my first review for a non-Korean skincare product, Kiehl’s Turmeric and Cranberry Seed Energizing Radiance Mask! Kiehl’s is a brand that I’ve known about for several years and have consistently heard good things about. (Fun fact: Expedition Everest was sponsored by the brand and the mountain climbers used Kiehl’s products to treat and protect their skin from the elements!) Ironically enough with having known about the brand, I didn’t actually buy this product myself; it was a gift from my Dad! He doesn’t excel at online shopping but knows my love for skincare so he picked it up at one of our local malls 🙂 This is a clay type mask which makes use of turmeric and cranberry seeds and is supposed to instantly illuminate and smooth skin. Let’s see how it worked!

Packaging

The packaging for this mask is simple and straight-forward. The jar is a bright orange with white script and a white screw-top lid. It has instructions, a description, and a full ingredients list. I would really have loved an included spatula to scoop out the product, but otherwise the packaging is easy and functional.

Product

I’m sure you can guess from the name that the two star ingredients of this mask are turmeric and cranberry seeds. Turmeric has long been used for centuries for both its medicinal and its skin brightening benefits. Unlike some brightening products which just reduce hyper-pigmentation and scarring, turmeric can indeed lighten your skin. This is something I’m not fond of so I like to mention it for others as well. Aside from this, turmeric also has antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties and has been shown to firm the skin and give it a natural youthful glow! It can also help with fading acne scars! The cranberry seeds in the mask work as a mechanical exfoliant. I don’t find them too rough on my skin but if you have acne, they could cause irritation.

As far as the wear goes, the mask does dry as you leave it on. The effect is neither extreme or uncomfortable to me though i.e. no face cracking here! I would be a bit wary of this mask if you have sensitive skin. It creates a strong-moderate tingling sensation when I wear it. It can take a little while to wash off which is good incentive to make sure you don’t put on too much!

Results

me with the mask on (ignore the disinterested expression which I’m just going to blame on sleep deprivation!)

After using this product the first time I wasn’t too impressed. I’m glad I stuck with it though because I love it now! (I believe the first few times I used it that I applied it too thickly.) It leaves my skin much smoother and helped give a bit more a glow. My skin looks better and better when I use it consistently. The one thing that this mask doesn’t do is provide moisture to my skin, so if you have dry skin you might need to use an extra moisturizer or sleeping pack after this. Even with the tingling sensation during wear, I personally haven’t had any irritation from it. Here’s some before and after picks!

Final Thoughts

I really love this mask! It lives up to its claims of skin smoothing and illumination and overall has been a great addition to my skincare routine. It’s a little bit pricier than many of the skincare items I typically use, but still I like it enough that I wold consider buying it again. I’ll definitely keep an eye out for more Kiehl’s products in the future!

Have you tried any products from Kiehl’s? What’s your favorite face mask? Any more products that aren’t K-beauty that you’d like to see me try? Leave your thoughts in the comments! As always thanks for reading and bisous!
