Nooni Root Energy Cleansing Water Review

Hello all! I finally have a new skincare product to review again. The last time I was beauty shopping, I was running low on makeup remover. I had also been reading so much about cleansing waters. So I decided to try both of those things with the  Root Energy Cleansing Water by the Memebox private label brand Nooni. This Korean cleansing water promises gentle cleansing and makeup removal and even the ability to use it as a makeup brush cleaner! I’ll be doing an in depth review with photos and a little video to show how this product works!

Packaging

The packaging for this product is elegant and beautiful. Its exterior box is cream and pink with silver detailing. The cleansing water bottle is mostly clear with pink and silver details. A small hole center opening as the dispenser makes it easy to apply the water onto a cotton pad. The bottle can also be squeezed to pour out larger quantities of the product. There is both a description and list of ingredients in English.

Product

Part of the base of this product is carbonated water from Cheongju, South Korea. Cheongju is home to several springs including the Onyang Hot Spring the oldest one in Korea. Nooni’s cleansing water also contains Fig fruit extract, Beet Root extract, and Indian/Sacred Lotus Root extract. Lotus extract has a high content of antioxidants and helps hydrate the skin. It can also help with maintaining the oil balance of your skin to keep that pesky oily skin at bay. Less oily skin can mean healthier skin with fewer breakouts! Whoo! Beet root extract is full of nutrients and is also an antioxidant. It can also help detox the skin and treat acne and dark spots. Overall, the ingredients are a win.

When it comes to the senses, I like this product as well. The feel and consistency of it is just like plain water. It isn’t heavy so it won’t weigh down your skin or clog your pores. What really won me over though was the refreshing and cooling sensation it has when applied. It’s such a nice feeling at the end of the long day especially with the summer heat. I would even use it as a mid-day touch up on those no makeup days! Nooni‘s cleansing water is also subtly fragranced. The scent is mildly sweet floral. It is noticeable but not potent.

Uses/Functionality

The Nooni Root Energy Cleansing Water promises several uses. (I love a multi-functional product.) So let’s break it down and talk about each one separately!

Makeup Remover

This is why I personally bought this product and it hasn’t disappointed. It’s been my only makeup remover for about a month and there hasn’t been anything it hasn’t taken off. Now if you’ve seen my instagram, you know some of my makeup is heavy and weird. This water has gotten off everything from a full spackling of gel liner mixed with glitter, several layers of mascara, neon pigment, glitter brows (because glitter!!!) and matte lipstick both stick and liquid! So unless you are doing really heavy costume or avant-garde makeup, you should be able to take off your face with this. I recorded a little clip to show the makeup removing in action below.

Cleanser

I originally hadn’t intended to use this as a cleanser on no makeup days, but it has turned out to be a godsend. On days when I am in a hurry or am not feeling well standing (or just being a little/lot lazy), it has worked as a great cleanser no sink required. It is refreshing and my skin feels lighter and clean without feeling dry. I definitely wouldn’t permanently forgo my traditional double cleanse but it has been a good alternative and addition on many days!

Makeup Brush Cleaner

At first when I read the description of its final use being to clean makeup brushes, I almost wondered why. Now, I can see the benefit of it especially in the travel size but I’ll get to that a little later.

I decided to give it a go as pictured in the promotional materials: soak your brushes in the cleansing water and them rinse them under the sink. The perfect opportunity presented itself when I did an impromptu look with lots of pink neon shadow, clumpy gel eyeliner (I had forgotten how much I hated it) and glitter. My angled shader brush especially was a pretty, neon pink mess!

I soaked all of the brushes I had used in a small cup with just enough of the Nooni Root Energy Cleansing Water to cover the bristles. It started working immediately!

I left it for about five minutes. After removing the brushes and rinsing, they were surprisingly clean! The only one that wasn’t entirely clean was the one used for the gel liner but that stuff sticks to everything (I was picking a stray clump out of my lashes for a week) so I wasn’t disappointed.

The main benefit I see to this is if you are traveling you won’t need separate products to remove your makeup and cleanse your brushes. Otherwise, I wouldn’t use it for this purpose, but if anyone else wants to it does work!

Final Thoughts

This product was definitely worth the purchase! The multiple uses add to its value. Even if I was only able to use it as a makeup remover, I would still be happy though. The application sensation is wonderful. It has good for your skin ingredients. You also get a good amount: 340mL (approximately 11.4 ounces)!

As always thanks for reading! I know it was a long one 😉 Also be sure to share and subscribe if you like my posts. You can also follow me on Instagram: @bellegalxe. Until next time bisous!
